Matt Flanery

Board Certified, Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and Member, Texas Trial Lawyers Association

Matt Flanery grew up in De Kalb, Texas. Following high school, Matt went to Texas A&M University in College Station, where he worked summers to help pay his way through school. After graduating with a Political Science degree, he enrolled in Texas Tech Law School. While in law school, Matt won the Jurisprudence Award for receiving the highest grade in both Torts (Personal Injury Litigation) and Trial Advocacy. He was selected to the National Mock Trial Team, and was honored with an early induction to the Board of Barristers where he received a scholarship for his work as the Vice Chairman of Administration.

Following law school, Matt married Stephanie Flanery, and they had have lived in Tyler ever since. Matt and Stephanie balance Grant & Flanery's thriving law practice with raising three young and vivacious children (Maddie, Ozzie, and Raylan).

Immediately after law school, Matt worked as an Assistant District Attorney for Smith County where he underwent a "baptism by fire." In just under a year, he successfully tried over twenty jury trials. Matt then accepted the position of Senior Briefing Attorney to the Hon. William M. Steger, Senior United States District Judge. During his six-year tenure at the District Court, Matt worked on a broad array of complicated federal litigation, including personal injury cases, product liability causes of action, 18-wheeler accidents, and wrongful death cases.

The combination of Matt's jury trial experience and tutelage from Judge Steger gives him a unique perspective on litigation and the legal system in general.

In 2006, Matt joined his long-time friend and former law school classmate Darren Grant to form the Grant & Flanery Law Firm. Since then, Matt has dedicated his practice to representing the hard-working men and women of East Texas, especially those who have been injured by a careless driver of an 18-wheeler, commercial truck, or passenger vehicle.

Matt Flanery is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law, and is a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.
